IMPORTANT LEAGUE CHANGES - ALL PARENTS AND COACHES MUST READ BEFORE CONTINUING REGISTRATION PROCESS

Harrison Parks and Recreation is very excited to offer baseball and softball programs for every skill and experience level of player.  In an effort to enhance our league system to benefit all players we are restructuring the programs this year. Our primary goal is to give every player and parent a great experience in our league. This year we are offering sign-ups for two categories of leagues:  recreational and team.  Please see below for more information and to determine which league will most appropriately benefit your player.

Ages 3-8 League The focus of the league at this age level is to create a love for the game while developing the fundamentals of the sport.  All players will sign up individually and enter a draft to be placed on various teams (Little Sticks through Rookie Boys and 8U Girls).  All teams will play other drafted teams (Ages 3-8) and other out of the area teams from surrounding counties that are also recreational level.  Using a draft system allows us to most effectively ensure that each team is on the same level of play.

Ages 9-10 LeagueMinor Boys, 10U GirlsThe goal at this age level is to hone the skills of the sport and transition to a ‘live pitch’ environment.  There are two sign up options for different levels of play:

  1. Recreational League – Players sign up individually and enter a draft to be placed on various teams that will play each other. This league will be modified to help develop pitching skills. Modifications will include rule adjustments to limit walks and keep the flow of the game moving.  For example, there will be no walks. Instead, after the pitcher pitches enough balls to walk the batter, the coach from the batting team will pitch to his/her player allowing more batters to hit and get on base rather than walk.
  2. Team League – Full teams will sign up to play in this league and will play other competitive or travel teams.  Ages 8-10 are allowed in this division.  Traveling to play other regional teams including Berryville, Green Forest, Huntsville, etc. may be required so that there are enough teams to have a league.

Recreational and Team Leagues will not play each other in the baseball league. However, in softball to insure an adequate number of teams for the league, Recreational and Team Leagues may play each other.

Ages 11-12 League – Major Boys, 12U GirlsThe goal at this age level is to continue to develop the skills of the sport.  There are two sign up options for different levels of play:

  1. Recreational League – Players sign up individually and enter a draft to be placed on various teams.
  2. Team League – Full teams will sign up to play in this league and will play other competitive or travel teams. Ages 10-12 are allowed in this division.

Ages 13-15 League – Babe Ruth BoysThe goal at this age level is to continue to develop the skills of the sport.  There are two sign up options for different levels of play:

  1. Recreational League – Players sign up individually and enter a draft to be placed on various teams.
  2. Team League – Full teams will sign up to play in this league and will play other competitive or travel teams. Ages 13-15 are allowed in this division.  Traveling to play other regional teams including Berryville, Green Forest, Huntsville, etc. may be required so that there are enough teams to have a league.

Recreation and Team League Teams could play each other in this league.
