Buffalo National River

Location: From Harrison, take Hwy 7 south 14 miles to Pruitt Access

The Buffalo National River begins as a trickle as it glides down the Boston Mountains and empties into the White River. The Buffalo River's cool, clean waters are the perfect habitat for Smallmouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Green and Longear Sunfish and Spotted Bass. The Buffalo River has oxygen-rich water and gravel bottoms that Smallmouth Bass love. There are over 50 species of fish that can be found in the Buffalo National River. The Buffalo is the river for all seasons. Not only is it great for fishing, you can also enjoy an abundance of hiking trails, watchable wildlife, backpacking, swimming, camping and floating. Floating is sometimes possible year round, depending on rainfall.

Bull Shoals-White River State Park

Location: From Harrison, take 65 East toward AR 7 West, Turn right onto US 62/US 412/US 65. Turn left onto US 62/ US 412. Stay straight to go onto AR-178/ 1 st ST and continue to follow AR-178, turn left on Broadway and end in Bull Shoals. Total distance is 42 miles from Harrison

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park stretches along the riverside and lakeshore where the White River and Bull Shoals Lake join at the Bull Shoals Dam. The Bull Shoals Dam forms 45,440 acre lake. The lake is famous for its Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Hybrid Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, Longnose Gar, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Walleye, White Bass and White Crappie. The White River holds record numbers for its Rainbow and Brown Trout. It is also famous for its beautiful bluff scenery.

The park amenities include picnic areas, pavilion, playgrounds, trails and a gift shop. The trout dock offers boat, motor and canoe rentals. They also have supplies, equipment and gifts. Fishing is allowed year-round in the park from the boat dock down river.

Crooked Creek

Location: Newton County flowing north and then east through Boone County and across Marion County where it empties into the White River.

Crooked Creek, which runs through Boone County and through the heart of Harrison and the Ozark Mountains, has been described as "the blue-ribbon smallmouth stream in the state." Crooked Creek originates in Newton County near Dogpatch, flows north and then east through Boone County and continues east across Marion County where it empties into the White River. Most of the stream meanders through beautiful, scenic countryside and rural communities.

Open M-S 9:00-7:00, Sunday 12:00-7:00, open on holidays, handicap accessible, man made pond 1/2 acre in size, stocked with catfish. Senior citizen discounts and group rates available, pay by the pound you keep what you catch, 1.80 per pound.

Lead Hill/Diamond City Park

Location: Take Hwy. 7 North out of Harrison for 23 miles until it dead ends at the town of Diamond City. Follow Hwy. 7 to the Corps of Engineers Park entrance.

The Lead Hill Corps of Engineers Park along Bull Shoals Lake at Diamond City is a great location for quality fishing on Bull Shoals Lake. The large park has many camping sites with electricity and many of them are located near the water. Most of the sites have canopies over the picnic tables to provide shade. A launching pad is located at the park to put your boat on the lake and a marina is located at the same location for rentals, bait and fishing accessories.
