Media Hosting Program
Thank you for your interest in Harrison, Arkansas! The goal of the Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau is to assist travel journalists in developing itineraries and to facilitate visits to attractions, outdoor adventures, and other points of interest they will cover in their articles, books and broadcasts. We are here to help in any way possible and have staff dedicated to helping you while in our area.
We receive a considerable number of requests from journalists seeking legitimate media privileges. As a result and to most effectively meet your editorial, photographic, and broadcast needs, we ask your cooperation in following these guidelines:
- We request a minimum of two business weeks notice for a press visit once we have received all your credentialing information. This allows us to pursue suitable, available lodging and make other arrangements to enhance your visit.
- Complete the following media trip familiarization request form.
- Fax, mail or email a letter of assignment on letterhead from the media outlet you are representing (Mandatory).
- Freelance journalists, please forward recent examples of travel, outdoor or travel-related feature coverage. Documentation can be in the form of print clippings, or a VHS or CD sample of coverage you have previously produced.
- Immediately notify the Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau of change in plans.
- Within 12 months, forward an original copy of your published feature. This will keep you on our preferred list of media contacts.
Please note that complimentary arrangements are provided at the discretion of the host businesses and are subject to availability. Black-out periods may be experienced throughout the year that may necessitate a press rate, especially at hotels, but most of the time we can get complimentary assistance. The Harrison CVB can not provide airfare for your trip, nor can it pay for ground transportation, accommodations, attraction passes or meals, but as stated above, we have strong partnerships with area businesses and can on most occasions work out complimentary passes, lodging, meals, etc.
Please understand that our primary concern is assisting working press. Host locations are not always able to accommodate spouses, children or visitors accompanying working press. Most of the time, we will be able to assist spouses and children with an escort of the area for entertainment purposes. Most enjoy shopping and touring and we have volunteers and staff more than ready to assist.
